Assoc Prof Teo Chee Leong
Emeritus Professor
Prof Teo Chee Leong is an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at NUS. A first-class honours graduate from NUS, he earned his PhD at UC Berkeley before returning to NUS as a lecturer in 1988. His research expertise lies in control systems and mechatronics. From 2002 to 2017, he served as the founding director of the NUS Overseas College, shaping entrepreneurial education.
Prof Teo is deeply committed to teaching, notably developing the "C" Programming curriculum for ME1191: Advanced Computing in 1994, which remains a core part of the undergraduate programme. Between 2018 and 2022, he championed student recruitment, helping ME become the largest cohort in the Faculty of Engineering. His leadership also secured full accreditation by the by the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) for the programme in 2013.
