Assoc Prof Low Boon Chuan

Professor Low Boon Chuan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore and a Principal Investigator at the Mechanobiology Institute. He has also held academic leadership roles including Deputy Head of Biological Sciences and Associate Dean at NUS College. His academic training was in biochemistry at the University of Otago, followed by postdoctoral work at Singapore’s Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology.

His research focuses on cell signaling, developmental biology, and mechanobiology, with particular interest in how proteins regulate cell growth, tissue development, and cancer metastasis. He is known for work on signaling proteins and protein domains, including studies that help explain how cells communicate and respond to physical and biochemical cues. Through both his research and teaching, Professor Low has contributed to advancing life sciences education and biomedical discovery in Singapore.
