Assoc Prof Henz, Martin Joachim
Assoc Professor
Martin Henz is an Associate Professor at NUS’s Department of Computer Science. He holds an M.Sc. from Stony Brook and a Ph.D. from Saarland University. His research interests include scalable experiential learning, programming languages, and AI in education. He expanded CS1101S from 48 to 670 students and co-developed the Source Academy.
He co-authored a JavaScript-adapted textbook published by MIT Press and founded CS4215. Henz co-founded Workforce Optimizer and supervised a PhD that led to formation of the education company Cerebry. His work spans functional programming, software engineering education, and logistics algorithms.
He has received several honors, including the NUS Digital Education Award (ADEA) in 2021, Teaching Excellence Award for Academic Year 2016/2027, and a Fulbright Scholarship in 1990. His contributions bridge academia, education technology, and entrepreneurship.
